Instituto Querô

Instituto Querô is a social organization that uses video production as a tool for social transformation, working in Baixada Santista for over 20 years. Its work is structured around three main pillars: training young people in situations of vulnerability, producing video content with social impact, and helping them enter the job market. The institution runs projects such as Oficinas Querô, which has already trained more than 600 young people, Querô na Escola, which has reached more than 10,000 public school students, and Querô Comunidade, which has mobilized more than 200 residents. Its purpose is clear: to use the language of film and video to promote citizenship, diversity and real opportunities.

Beyond its social projects, Instituto Querô operates Produtora Querô, a professional arm that works in the commercial video production market. Founded in 2008 by graduates of the first class of workshops, the production company also functions as a hands-on school, hiring young people trained by the institute for its projects. It offers services ranging from institutional and corporate videos to productions for TV, film and original projects, including short and feature films with social themes. This integration between training and the market is a key differentiator of the Querô model.

The institute maintains a strong market-connection program, Conexões Querô, which serves as a gateway into the job market. The program maintains a talent bank, fills job openings and offers course scholarships in partnership with other institutions. This ecosystem is sustained by a network of partners and sponsors, including companies such as CMOC, Brasil Terminal Portuário, Banco BV, Petrocoque and Netflix, along with institutional support from city governments, universities and organizations such as UNICEF.

Over two decades, Instituto Querô has built up a track record of recognition and awards that attest to the quality and impact of its work. It was a finalist for the BBC's World Challenge, winner of the Prêmio Governador do Estado para as Artes, holder of the Selo Santos da Diversidade, and has received honors such as the Troféu Zumbi dos Palmares and the Mérito Consciência Negra. These achievements reinforce its credibility and the strength of its mission in the region.
